It holds your breath from 1st frame till the last frame.
It starts from a road accident happens near Worli Seaface, where all of a sudden a car comes on an empty road & dashes the footpath & jumps into the sea. The person inside the car is a famous Actor Arman Kapoor who dies due to drowning in the sea. There the investigation of this accident starts. From past 2-3 years similar kind of accidents often happens on the same spot but due to improper evidences these cases were moves to A-File cases. Now the investigation of these cases is handed over to Inspector Surjan Shekhavat (Aamir Khan). On the parallel lines, Aamir’s personal life is already disturbed & this accident adds to his disturbed married life with his wife Roshni (Rani Mukherjee). This accident reminds him of a similar accidental death of his son Karan. The memories of this painful situation always haunts him.
In the process of investigation, he comes across a Prostitute named Rosy (Kareena Kapoor) who helps him at every step of investigation. She also gives him an emotional support. So this murder mystery goes parallel with Aamir’s personal life. How he solves this mystery & his persoanl life, how the ‘Talaash’ ends, the answer lies in the 2 & half ours of the movie. This movie makes u speechless. Every time you come up with a new suspect but within a fraction of second you realize you are wrong.
Your brain stops working while finding the answers but the mystery keeps on going, adding more & more to your confusion. Reema Kagti & Zoya Akhtar’s compact script compel you stick to your seats. Kagti’s direction is too good. Especially in Aamir’s case. Most prominent directorial punch in the film is, the situation when Aamir thinks of the possibilities he could do to save his son.
Conclusion: Though this story is a Fiction but the impact is in such a way that you start believing its real. Kareena looks beautiful on the screen, her performance is very natural. Though Rani doesn’t have much role but she has given her best. Ram Sampath’s music keeps revolving in your mind, very situational. New upcoming star Nawazuddin Siddiqui who played “Langda Taimur” also leaves a strong impression on everyone’s mind. Others have also performed well.
And last but not at all least Mr.Aamir Khan, he always stick to his title “The Perfectionist”. Whichever role he plays he just goes into it in such a way that you cant distinguish between Aamir & his character just like the character Surjan Shekhavat. His performance is enriched by the dialogues written by Farhan Akhtar & Anurag Kashyap. So do watch this movie to unfold the unthinkable, unimaginable murder mystery.
