Wait for next gen gaming consoles to buy new games
Next generation gaming consoles are on the verge of release with ton of new features and new revamped hardware. Last week of November will definitely be a mess in electronics stores in The United States. This will also be the case in few more countries around the world as Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will be available to gamers via several retailers.
It is obvious that, a lot of people out there are excited to get their hands on these new consoles and try next generation games (More realistic graphics and improved game physics). However I would like to note that, game publishers are playing a rude marketing game with buyers. Publishers are already releasing current gen versions of their next-gen games. For example; I got my copy of Battlefield 4 for XB360 last week. I had it preordered but, now I come to think if it was really necessary to have current gen copy? Because, I am getting a next-gen console (in my case XBOne) in a few weeks of time and will definitely upgrade to the next-gen version of this game.
Publishers of games like Battlefield 4, Modern Warfare Ghosts, etc. are offering these next-gen upgrades for $10. Gamers will be downloading upgrades directly from online stores provided current gen equivalent is already purchased. This is a complete rip off, as the discs you have will not be supported on your new consoles (technical differences). It would only be a dream if gamers are allowed to get next-gen versions of all their purchased games for free, which should be the case from the beginning.Images above are stills from this video by CriousGamers.
I have stopped playing Battlefield 4 as the game is not giving me the experience that was promised in commercials. In advertisements, publishers are showing you footage from next-gen consoles while they are selling you low quality (as compared to what they advertise) versions of their games for same price tag. Now, you tell me if that is a rip-off or not? These games should have never been released current gen versions before next-gen ones or should be offered free upgrade to next-gen versions. This is not happening for now as there are no regulations on game publishers on manipulating their products.
For now, my suggestion is to stay away from current gen versions and save the upgrade fees when you get your next-gen consoles. Trust me, next gen versions of these games are way better than that of current gen.
